Reduction in registration fee of .EE domain to come into effect on 1 May

As of 1 May 2012 a reduction in the registration fee of the .EE domain will come into effect. The reduction in the fee was decided by the supervisory board of the Estonian Internet Foundation at the end of 2011. The new fee is €17 per year, i.e. €1.42 per month.

20 years since Internet came to Estonia

Precisely 20 years ago today Estonia established its first Internet connection with the outside world. Previously people in Estonia could only send and receive e-mails via slow modem connections by making international calls to Finland. Enno Heringson, Mari Must and Madis Päts are new members of the Domain Disputes Committee

The Supervisory Board of the Estonian Internet Foundation voted unanimously to appoint three new members of the Domain Disputes Committee: sworn advocate Enno Heringson, patent attorney Mari Must and sworn advocate Madis Päts. The Domain Disputes Committee now has a total of 12 members.

The Domain Disputes Committee (DDC) gave a decision in the dispute of Guess?, Inc. over the guess.ee domain name. The Committee found that the guess.ee domain name had been registered without the registrar’s right to or legitimate interest in the domain name.

Registration of domains in Estonia reached the level of Finland

At the beginning of 2012 the per capita number of registration of the .EE domains in Estonia reached the level of registration of the Finnish national domain .FI, i.e. per 1,000 residents both countries use 50 national domains.
