The total number of .ee domains increased by 8.8% during 2021
Here's a brief look back at the .ee registry in 2021 - how many domains were registered, how many were abandoned, and what are the dynamics of the registry's growth in recent years? And by the way, do you know what the longest .ee domain registered in 2021 was?
In 2021, 27396 new .ee domains were registered in Estonia, and the total
number of .ee domains in the register as of 1 January this year is 147961. The .ee registry thus grew by a
good 8.8% during the year. 86.5% of the domains were renewed, and
15410 domains were deleted from the register.
The most intensive period of registration of new .ee domains was in March 2021
- 36% more than in the same month of
the previous year. The summer months, this time especially July, turned out to
be the least active period.
The longest .ee domain with a literal meaning
of the year turned out to be the 36-letter
riiklikeinvesteeringutesihtasutus.ee, but of course, it falls far short of the
technical record of a .ee internet address consisting of 63 e-letters registered
in 2016. And finally - it is gratifying that 11% more of .ee domains with special characters were registered in
2021 than in 2020!
You can see how many new .ee domains were registered each month compared to the
previous year:
