We have signed a registrar contract with the ICANN-accredited registrar Nameshield
The Estonian Internet Foundation has signed a registrar contract with Nameshield, a French registrar accredited by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). Nameshield has provided domain registration, trade mark protection and web hosting services internationally since 1994.

The Foundation has contracts with 11 international registrars, 9 of whom are accredited by ICANN.

For a Cleaner Estonian Internet: Domain Dispute Fees Lowered for Individuals and Non-Profits
The Council of the Estonian Internet Foundation (EIF) has made an important decision to make .ee domain disputes easier and more affordable. Starting September 1, 2025, the cost to file a dispute with the Domain Disputes Committee will be lower, especially for private individuals and non-profit groups. The fees will also depend on who is filing the challenge.

In 2016, the .ee national domain faced a long-standing problem: the unfair technical advantage of so-called domain catchers. The solution? Implement a transparent auction system that would create a level playing field for all interested parties. It wasn’t inspired by anything else but was a purely internal initiative – with the goal of fairness, not profit. The .cz registry did an interview with our Head of Development, Timo Võhmar, and discussed our domain auction system and experiences.
